I'm a horn player and a music educator. I grew up in Beaumont, Texas, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I studied instrumental music education, and then entered the workforce as a special education teacher. That experience changed my whole perspective on what education is and should be. I was incredibly fortunate to work with some amazing students each and every day and ensure that their lives at school were remarkable as I could make them, both musically and nonmusically. I then attended Indiana University where I recently completed a Master's in French Horn Performance under the direction of Jeff Nelsen.
After playing in the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico, and having been a freelance orchestra musician and teacher in Montreal, Quebec, over the last 2.5 years, I now live and freelance in Austin, Texas.
My dream is to combine my passions of music and education in a way that is both meaningful and selfless. I am striving to be part of an arts organization that helps communities of all kinds to learn about, engage in, celebrate, and, most importantly, create music and other forms of art. I want to show people how to express themselves in ways they did not even think were possible. I want to encourage others how to explore and appreciate the art that others make while being able to create their own. I want others to experience the way art can change their lives, just as art has changed mine.
For fun, I love to write and arrange music, run, and take pictures.
